Foxfire the Kitsune Oracle

This week's card pull and deck review is a deck from my friend Denita's deck collection that I tried out. After spending time with this one, I will definitely be getting one for mine. Foxfire the Kitsune Oracle offers guidance from the guardians of Foxfire; the Kitsune (fox spirit) and friends. This deck is by Lucy Cavendish and Meredith Dillman, and is published through Blue Angel Publishing.

I would classify this one, as ethereal or otherworldly. The writing is very poetic and has a flow and beauty that I really enjoy. You can feel the spirit connection she had when writing this and it is like stepping out of time to do your reading. I just fell in love straight away!

The artwork, of this deck, I would describe as imaginal, fairy tale, anime, or ethereal fantasy. The deck has a real poetic and soft but firm feel to it, as you would expect from magical foxes. Being written and designed by Lucy, who creates beautiful works, studies then embodies her subject and it really comes together in a cohesive and complete way. These can be read with the book or just used intuitively. They are great for a 3 card spread and could be used for writing or journal prompts as well. The Four Seasons spread and Ninetails spread are glorious!!

THIS WEEK'S CARD PULL

The deck would be a really great gift for an artist, poet, mystic or fantasy lover; anyone who takes their time reveling in a beautiful creation. This is a deck to really take your time with and explore fully.

The 143 page book is really nice. Inside is in black and white, with images of the cards, the name, and a message. There is a Table of contents, an introduction, a few awesome spreads, the card meanings, about the author and artist and more decks by Lucy.

The 45 cards are standard oracle size, in full colour, thin and slide easily, with a gloss finish. I actually love the thinner cards because with my small hands, they bend enough for a good shuffle without losing shape! The backs are all the same design; and honestly one of my favourite things about this deck. They are a gorgeous shade of red with two facing foxes and a swirling tail into night sky image that is just too cute!

The face images are all unique artwork, a variety of fantasy characters in different natural spaces with a lot of trees, flowers, Fae, etc. The fox ladies are so cute. I really love the artwork, the characters are interesting and fun. The card face also has the name and number and are border-less. They used a wide colour palette in the artwork too, with nature colours and a lot of seasonal colours.

The box is a standard Blue Angel Oracle box, in full colour and plain interior that will last well. Again, nice and easy to open.

I definitely would recommend this one for your anime or fox loving collector, or those who love the ethereal Fae vibe. I like using this one alone, but I imagine it could also work great with another deck.
