This is a great deck, not only because of the animals, but Steven D. Farmer is a great writer as well. The images are beautiful and the colours are rich and vast. I enjoy the decoupage look and the hidden elements of the images. The book is easy to use and can assist you in learning how to interpret animal guidance.
There are 44 cards, all with the same backing, the Animal Guide image and a short message are on the front. The cards are gorgeous and they are a good quality with an excellent shuffling texture. They are a decoupage style of artwork which is varied and interesting. I love the texture of this deck and the box, it is pure sensory bliss for me. The images have a great range of colours, something I enjoy.
I do use these on my alter as well to pull in the energy of the animal I am working with. I do recommend reading the works of Steven D. Farmer, he has s wealth of knowledge.
The 139 page companion book is in black and white and has the card image, a short and an expanded message and some associations. Once again, this allows this deck to be used in various ways, and is well done. I love any deck that can be used for learning about the Guidance available to us, especially animals.
This deck is a treasured part of my collection, and it would be in yours if you got one too. The texture may distract you if you are sensory sensitive, I often just sit feeling the cards and box because it is such a cool texture that I get lost in the moment.
