Whilst chopping wood

Whilst chopping wood, so I could warm the house for the kids, and interesting metaphor popped into my head that I thought others may appreciate.
The act of gathering firewood and chopping kindling makes you no longer need the warmth a fire provides.
You have created your own warmth for the moment, yet those around you still need the fire, and want you to continue building it; at least until they are able to create warmth for themselves.
So, though it may feel temporarily uncomfortable, by removing some of your own layers, you allow those around you to still benefit from the heat of the fire.
They will be comforted by your effort, and you can be comforted by their joy; you all benefit.
If you keep your temporary warmth to yourself, and cease building the fire… you will ALL soon be cold.
